Facing Problems

 Who wants hardship, famine, or scarcity? Nobody does. All humans desire better lives. When our lives are improved, we become happy. Living in a nice apartment, wearing good clothes, driving a nice car and enjoying scrumptious meals is every one’s dream and joy.

It is quite absurd that unfortunately, life does not throw things at us the way we want it. In 1982 as a young boy, i saw with my own eyes the prevailing effects of famine on the nation of Ghana. Food was scarce and people had to join long queues for hours before they could buy even a loaf of bread. That was how bad it was. I, therefore, tend to comprehend what Israel went through during the period of famine. It must have been extremely difficult for these four lepers because there was no one they could go to for help. Life was as tough as tough to them.

A head of a donkey was selling for eighty shekels of silver and a quarter of a cab of seed pods for five shekels as the highest commodities in a city (see 2 Kings 7).  This should tell you that the economic condition must have been unbearable for the dwellers in this city. The pressure was on – the royal palace felt it, the citizens felt it and four lepers behind the city gate were not left behind in the struggle. What happened to these people might not necessarily be the same conditions you might be experiencing but you could also be facing giant problems. As difficult as the problem might be, be rest assured that things can turn around for you. Robert Schuller once said “tough times never last but tough people do”.

Dear one, be determined to survive and be determined to live no matter the condition you might be facing. Remember that every problem has an expiry date. Problems will not last forever but the word of god will endure forever. You, therefore, must believe god’s word over your life. I see change on the horizon for you. Your breakthrough is near and it will be evident to all.
